In yet another turnaround, Agra Member of Parliament Raj Babbar, who had left the Samajwadi Party to form the Jan Morcha, joined the Congress in Tar Ghar ground here.
The function was attended by UP Congress chief Rita Joshi and the party8217;s general secretary Digvijay Singh, who said that Raj Babbar was a friend of farmers and was the right candidate for the Fatehpur Sikri seat.
Addressing his supporters, Raj Babbar said that both the BJP and BSP are dividing India along various lines and that the Congress is a truly nationalist party. He also used his speech to compare UP Chief Minister Mayawati to Queen Victoria and accused her of wearing 8220;diamond necklaces8221; and 8220;looting8221; her supporters. He added that the BSP chief should be sent to jail under the SC/ST Act for calling her would-be successor a 8220;Chamar8221;.
