Not a ball was bowled as persistent rain caused the whole of Day Two of the third Test between England and West Indies at Old Trafford to be washed out. There was a chance of the match resuming in the late afternoon, approximately five hours after the scheduled opening, but after the umpires inspected the field, they decided against it.
