
GALLE, June 4: Niroshan Bandaratilake claimed another key New Zealand wicket to keep Sri Lanka in control on a rain-shortened second day in the second cricket Test here today. Only 15 overs were bowled in 55 minutes in the final session today after heavy overnight rains left large parts of the outfield soggy and slippery. New Zealand were 122 for 5 when play was called off five minutes early.
Craig McMillan, who scored a century in the first Test, was bowled for 13 when he played on a faster delivery from Bandaratilake to become the left-arm spinner8217;s fourth victim of the innings. Bandaratilake finished the day with impressive figures of four for 20 from 24 overs.
Nathan Astle added 12 runs to his overnight score of 30 and Adam Parore, who joined him at the fall of McMillan8217;s wicket, was not out on three when play was called five minutes early.
