Rain and more rain!!

CHANDIGARH, June 11: The City and its vicinity experienced incessant rain today, keeping the temperature cool and comfortable. A total of 52.8 mm rainfall was recorded in the City during the past 24 hours, while the maximum temperature remained at 31.4 degrees Celsius.

The pre-monsoon showers, varying from light to moderate, caught office-goers unawares at about 9.30 a.m and continued virtually non-stop till late afternoon. Some rain was also experienced during last night.

Except for occasional spells, normal life continued without disruption, with the streets and market places bustling with activity as usual. However, water accumulated at several spots with some low lying areas getting flooded. No distress call was reported.

Local weather office predicts moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the region during the next 24 hours.
