The Howrah police busted an interstate racket dealing in forged question papers of the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and arrested three youths from a hotel in Howrah on Saturday morning. The accused were later produced in a court in Howrah and remanded in police custody for five days. The arrested are —-Manish Kumar, a resident of Guddapur in Jharkhand, Bikas Shaw of Rajballav Saha Lane in Howrah and Jibananda Prasad, a resident of Konnagar in Hooghly. “We began our investigations after receiving complaints about the racket. We are now looking into the network in the neighbouring states,” said Howrah Superintendent of Police, Neeraj Singh. Earlier, the RRB had lodged a complaint with the vigilance department and the police about the racket thriving in and around Howrah. The police got a specific lead that the accused were staying at the Ashoka Hotel in Howrah and selling forged question papers for the examination.Subsequently, a police team raided the hotel, arrested the accused and recovered forged question papers from them. The trio was selling question papers to candidates appearing for Sunday’s examination, said a police officer. “The accused have been running the racket for the last 10 years in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand,” said a police officer. “We are also probing the involvement of any railway official in the racket,” said an officer of the Golabari police station.
