Keshubhai to expand his cabinet today

GANDHINAGAR: The ten-day-old Gujarat ministry, headed by Keshubhai Patel, will be expanded tomorrow with the induction of about 24 BJP MLAs. According to party sources, newly elected MLAs would be inducted in the ministry while most of the old faces, who were in the previous Keshubhai Patel ministry, are likely to get berths.

They include senior BJP leaders former chief minister Suresh Mehta, state BJP chief Vajubhai Vala, Ashok Bhatt, Fakirbhai Vaghela, Purusottam Rupala, Nitin Patel, Narotam Patel, Arvind Patel, Mahendra Trivedi, Jaspal Singh, Atmaram Parmar and Savji Korat.

Lyngdoh trust vote

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya ministry headed by Brington Buhai Lyngdoh will seek vote of confidence on March 20. Announcing this at his first press conference today, Lyngdoh said the first session of the new Assembly would be convened on the same day and Governor M M Jacob would also address the House.

Andhra clashes

HYDERABAD:Inter-party clashes claimed lives of three workers of ruling Telugu Desam including two in police firing in two separate incidents at Vizianagaram and Machillipatnam in Andhra Pradesh last night. Three others including TDP MP S Vijayarama Raju and sub-inspector of police were also injured in the clashes.

Urea arbitration

NEW DELHI: A three-member international arbitral tribunal (IAT) appointed by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) will begin arbitration proceedings in the Rs 133 crore urea import scam here from Monday. The two Karsan executives, Tunkay Alankus and his deputy Cihan Karanci have received notices from the tribunal to appear beore it from March 16 to 19.

TRAI findings

NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) plans to table its recommendations on the internet policy of the country in two to three months. The TRAI had earlier invalidated the proposed internet privatisation policy of the government on grounds of absence ofrecommendations.
