Armed forces pension hiked

NEW DELHI: The government has issued orders for revision of pension of armed forces personnel who retired on or after January 1, 1996 and family pension for officers and men dying in harness or after retirement beyond December 31, 95. The revised pension would be based on hiked pay admissible consequent to implementation of Fifth Pay Commission recommendations.

Pak train blast

LAHORE: A bomb exploded in a Pakistani Express train in the central Punjab province on Monday killing at least five people, and wounding 35. The Chiltan Express train was crossing a bridge over a canal near Pattoki town, 70 km south-west of Lahore, when the blast occurred. A newspaper reporter said the death toll could be higher as some victims appeared to have fallen into canal .
