ISI hand in blast, says WB Govt

CALCUTTA: The West Bengal Government today said there was conclusive evidence of ISI involvement in the powerful blast in New Jalpaiguri railway station yesterday that left nine dead and over 80 injured. State Home Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee told newspersons that reports from the investigating team indicated the use of RDX and a timer device in the blast, commonly used by the ISI.

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Monday extended the stay on the demolition of Sun Dew Apartment, the crux of the Girish Vyas case8217; by two months. The stay will now continue till August 31. Virendra Tulzapurkar, counsel for Girish Vyas, the son-in-law of former chief minister Manohar Joshi, approached the HC seeking extension in the stay since a copy of the order was still unavailable.

Gujarat rains claim 4

GANDHINAGAR: Four persons, including two women, were killed in lightning and wall collapse in various parts of Gujarat following heavy rainsduring the last three days. Police said one woman died after being struck by lightning in Kadi village in Mehsana district while another was electrocuted in Meghraj village in Sabarkantha district.

BHUBANESWAR: Mystery surrounds a bunch of bank drafts amounting to Rs 20 lakh received by Anjana Mishra, who had charged a former Orissa advocate general with attempting to rape her. Mishra, who was allegedly gangraped near here last January, told reporters here today that she had received nine drafts which reached her by speedpost on June 18. But she said she had no idea who had sent her the drafts.

Officials shifted

NEW DELHI: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Delhi Government today transferred five senior officials including Principal Secretary Health Ramesh Chandra.

While Chandra has been appointed Principal Secretary Revenue and Technical Education, R Chandramohan, at present Secretary Lands, has been appointed Secretary for Health and Family Welfare.
