B D Goenka award for Dua
CHENNAI: H K Dua, veteran journalist and former editor of The Indian Express was on Thursday named winner of the B D Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism, 1998. The award jury picked Dua for the honour for the principled stand he took in defence of the editor8217;s freedom in a newspaper. The award, consisting of a Konark Sun Temple trophy, a citation scroll and Rs 1 lakh, is to be presented at a function later.
Burning train
THRISSUR: PaSSENGERS of a Bangalore-Kottayam special train had a miraculous escape on Thursday as the engine of the train caught fire at nearby Chalakudy railway station. No one was hurt and the train was allowed to proceed after a delay of about 90 minutes.
