Diesel costliest in Mumbai

NEW DELHI: Government today announced a 39 paise per litre hike in diesel prices in Mumbai and 34 paise in Delhi and Calcutta making the fuel costliest in Mumbai at Rs 11.60 per litre. The increase is effective from midnight tonight. The sources said government also decided to adjust the prices of controlled petroleum products diesel, petrol, aviation turbine fuel and LPG in line with increase in freight announced in rly budget.

NC expels Soz

JAMMU: Lok Sabha member and senior National Conference leader Saifuddin Soz was on Monday expelled from the party for life for defying the party decision of supporting Vajpayee government in the trust vote. The decision was unanimously taken by the NC Working Committee.

Boy kills dad, self

MUMBAI: A 22-year-old boy strangulated his 50-year-old father and then committed suicide by hanging himself to death in Mulund east on Monday. Around 6.40 pm, residents of Sri Krupa building, Tata Colony Road, incalledthe police as flat No 263 occupants were not answering the door bell. When the police arrived they forced open the door only to find the boy, Vivek, hanging from the ceiling and his father, Shantaram Shedge, lying on the floor.

Leopard kills 2

KOTDWAR: A man-eater leopard killed two children and injured a woman in the Garhwal division on Sunday. A four-year old boy was killed by the leopard in Dabara village. In another incident, a nine-year old boy in Aryapani village was killed by a leopard believed to be the one involved in the earlier killing.
