UNITED NATIONS: NATO missiles struck an oil refinery and a bridge over the Danube late on Monday night as the United States vowed the air offensive would continue until Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic capitulated. The bombings showed no sign of stopping a torrent of ethnic Albanian refugees pouring across Kosovo8217;s borders.
DD, AIR strike
NEW DELHI: Several cadres of Doordarshan and All India Radio AIR went on a nationwide indefinite strike this midnight demanding enhancement of pay scales. Talks with officials of the Information and Broadcasting ministry earlier in the day failed to resolve the crisis. Around 23,000 Prasar Bharati employees are on strike from tonight, a statement by the Akashvani and Doordarshan administrative staff claimed.
Indo-Dhaka bus
PETRAPOLE:Shyamoli, the bus carrying 40 Bangladeshi officials and mediapersons, arrived here on Tuesday during its dry run to Calcutta from Dhaka. The white Hino bus arrived more than four hoursbehind schedule at 1620 hours. The bus later started for Calcutta at 1735 hours.
BJP leader killed
SOLAPUR:A BJP leader and former Akkalkot taluka panchayat samiti member, Brahmanand More, was murdered by three unidentified persons at Akkalkot town last evening. Police said the assailants waylaid More and stabbed him to death when he was proceeding to his village Kurnur. The culprit has been arrested.
