
Death rap in Longowal murder case
PATIALA,: A special court conferred death sentence on Gian Singh, main convict in the Sant Longowal murder case, on Monday. The designated court of special Tada judge P C Rajput had last week convicted Gian Singh and acquitted six others in the case. Rajput gave three months8217; time to Singh to appeal against the sentence.

VATICAN CITY: The Vatican Daily on Monday identified three nuns killed in Yemen as two Indian and one Philippines nationals. It said that sister Tilia and sister Anetta of India and sister Michael of the Philippines worked at the Hodeidah institute which cares for some 100 elderly and handicapped people. The institute is one of four in Yemen operated by the missionaries of charity established by the late Mother Teresa.
Hospital stir
NEW DELHI: The striking health employees and the government resumed their talks late tonight in a bid to break the impasse over the hike in patient care allowance, one of the main demandsof the strikers who paralysed services in the capital8217;s government hospitals for the eight day today. Government is understood to have agreed to offer Rs 640 per month as Patient Care Allowance PCA this afternoon.
Anti-eveteasing act
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government is formulating an act providing harsh punishment to those indulging in eve-teasing. Disclosing this, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi told a meeting here tonight that the act would come into force soon. The government8217;s move comes in the wake of the recent death of a 20-year old city college girl Sarika Shah, who was a victim of eve-teasing. The accused have been remanded to custody.
