Harshad Mehta8217;s sentence stayed
NEW DELHI:
The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Mumbai special court order sentencing Big Bull8217; Harshad Mehta to rigorous imprisonment for five years and admitted his petition challenging conviction in the diversion of Rs 38.97 crore Maruti Udyog Ltd fund in the multi-crore securities scam case.

TRAI plea rejected
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition by TRAI challenging the Delhi High Court stay on the implementation of free incoming calls for cellular phone users under calling party pays CPP regime. The TRAI had announced the provision of free incoming calls to cellular phone users through CPP from November 1 but the same was challenged in the High Court by MTNL and another public interest litigation.

Sorabjee reappointed
New Delhi: With his reappointment as the Attorney General, Soli J Sorabjee has done a hat-trick. He was appointed as the Attorney General in 1987. He was next appointed in 1998 by theBJP government. As expected, he has been reappointed to the post by the present government. Apart from defending constitutional amendments and legislations , Sorabjee will also appear in the International Court of Justice resisting Pakistan8217;s claims on the alleged shooting down of its aircraft.
