• Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that private airlines owe more than Rs 22 crore as outstanding dues to Airports Authority of India. As per his statement, the private airlines that have dues as on March 31, 2006 in respect of Delhi Airport are Jet Airways (Rs 687.40 lakh), Sahara (Rs 221.24 lakh), Air Deccan (223.61), Spice Jet (32.81 lakh) and Kingfisher Airlines (Rs 79.38 lakh) among others.
‘Attempts on to de-Hinduise J-K’
• Accusing the Government of failing to ensure security of people in militancy-hit Doda, the BJP said the prevailing situation in J-K was forcing Hindus to leave the state. ‘‘The Government is not paying heed despite attempts to de-Hinduise the state,’’ BJP deputy leader V K Malhotra said during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha said. Malhotra’s contention was supported by Shiv Sena.
Restricted access to information
• In the wake of leakage of classified information from naval war room, the Government has instituted strict measures to monitor and limit access to sensitive information. A comprehensive Indian naval book of reference on ‘‘technology information security’’ related issues has been promulgated, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in Lok Sabha.
DD more popular than pvt channels
• The share of viewership of Doordarshan channels is way ahead at over 50 per cent as compared to private channels, Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday. DD-I had a viewership of 45.7 per cent and DD News 11.7 per cent, I&B Minister P R Dasmunsi said quoting the Indian Readership Survey, 2006 (Round I). — ENS & PTI
