Awards for teachers
Vidya Sahakari Bank Ltd. has instituted two awards, one for senior teacher and the other for meritorious young teacher, which will be presented every year on the occasion of the Guru Pournima. The awards will carry cash prizes of Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000, respectively.

The awards will be presented by Governor Dr. P C Alexander at a function to be held at Tilak Smarak Mandir at 10.30 a.m. on August 3. Vijay Kuwalekar, chief editor of daily Sakal, will preside.

Walimbe for UK
Dr. S R Walimbe, president of Pune University’s Alumni Association of Anthropolgy (PUAAA), has been invited to participate in a two-week course in human skeletal paleopanthology at the University of Bradford, U.K. Dr. Walimbe’s visit is funded by the Bioanthropology Foundation, London.PUAAA secretary Dr. S N Morankar has left Pune to attend the International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences being held at present in Williamsberg in USA. Dr. Morankar is currently working with Foundation for Research in Community Health, Pune.

Lecture
Medi-Jain will organise a talk by Dr. Vishalmuni Maharaj, Jain Muni and religious consultant to Jain Shraman Sangh, on the theme of `Religion and medical science’ at Soubhagya Mangal Karyalaya, Maharshinagar, on August 2 from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon. The organisers have invited medical practitioners belonging to different religions for the talk.
