FRS for Mashelkar
Dr Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in the election result announced in London on Friday.

A press release issued by National Chemical Laboratory stated that FRS has been bestowed upon Dr Mashelkar for `Improving natural knowledge’ and for his pioneering contributions in polymer engineering, especially in modelling and simulation of poly condensation reactors, transport in swelling polymers, non-Newtonian fluid mechanics with special reference to secondary flows and motion and deformation of particles. Hailing from Pune, Dr. Mashelkar has held various important offices including the director of NCL and has been conferred with honours like Padmashri (1991) and the Nehru Award (1991).

New Lions members
Sixty-one new members have been inducted in 16 Lions clubs affiliated to Lions International District 323 D2. District governor Kushal Hegde presided over the function.

Ayurveda camp for women
