Conference on paediatric nephrology starts today
The Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Pune branch and the Nephrology Chapter will conduct the XI National Paediatric Nephrology conference at the Armed Forces Medical College on October 23 and 24.
Lt Gen B B Dutta, Commandant, AFMC will inaugurate the conference which will cover the whole spectrum of paediatric nephrology ranging from nephrotic syndrome, renal failure acute and chronic, hemodialysis, renal hypertension to the surgical aspects such as obstructive uropathy.
Noted nephrologists including Dr R N Shrivastav, Dr A Bagga, Dr Kishor Phadke, Dr Tamilrasi and Dr Kumudini Mehta among others will attend the conference.
Exhibition of paintings
The Gangadevi Memorial Kala Mandir will organise the fifth group exhibition of fine art paintings by women artists of Pune at Rabindra Kala Kunj from November 14 8211; 18. Interested participants should deposit one/two paintings below 60 X 75 cms in size suitably framed without glass together with bio-data on November 11 and 12 between 11.00 am. and 1.00 pm. and 4.00 pm. and 6.00 pm. Drawing competition
Umed Pariwar, a parent8217;s organisation of mentally retarded and cerebral palsy persons has organised a drawing competition for such children and teachers in special schools. Sketches drawn on poster size or greeting card size should be submitted to the Pariwar office at 907/908 Bohari Ali, Budhwar Peth by November.

Chandu Borde felicitated
The Pune Council of Churches recently felicitated Chandu Borde on his appointment as the chairman of the Selection Committee of the Indian Cricket Control Board of India. The programme was conducted by Rev Raju S Londhe, president of the Council.
Anubhav8217;s essay competition
Anubhav Shiksha will conduct an essay competition for persons in the age group 15 8211; 29 years. The topics for the competition include Youth and His Rights8217;, Growing Impact of Globalisation on Youth8217; and Impact of Media on Youth8217;.

Gagneja appointed NACT chief
G L Gagneja, Centre Head of Aptech-Patil Plaza was appointed as the chairman of the Pune Chapter of National Association of Computer Trainers NACT.
He will be assisted by Vijaylakshmi Nair, head of the CMS Regional Office, as joint secretary and honorary treasurer, besides a committee of members. Varun Prasad, president, NACT and director, CMS, was the chief guest on the occasion.
