Ornaments looted at Aundh DP roady

Guarding the house of his sister-in-law, proved costly for Ramchandra Narayan Swami, who had his own house burgled and gold ornaments worth Rs 75,150 stolen. On a request from his wife, Swami, along with his family had gone to stay at his sister-in-law’s house, who had gone to her native place. They stayed at the house, located at the Aundh DP Road, between January 1 till yesterday morning. They returned to their flat at the Suvarnasmruti building, Baner Road, on Sunday afternoon, only to find that someone had broken open the lock of the main door and the cupboard. Swami has lodged a complaint with the Chaturshrungi police that gold ornaments including bangles and necklaces, worth Rs 75,150, had been stolen.

Drive against illegal posters

The Pune Municipal Corporation’s sanitation committee on Sunday removed unauthorised advertisement posters of Manikchand gukta and Jurassic Park displayed in the vicinity of Rani Laxmibai chowk. The action was led bycivic health chief Anil Ravetkar and sanitation committee chief coordinator Mukund Ambardekar. The municipal administration warned advertisers that penal action would be initiated against those pasting advertisements without prior permission and defacing public properties.

3 of a family burnt to death

In a tragic incident, three members of a family in Vetalnagar slum in Chinchwad were burnt to death on Saturday night when they attempted to save each other from the fire caused due to a kerosene stove blast. The deceased have been identified as Bharat Pandurang Shinde (31), his mother Ambubai (60), his sister Mahananda Mantappa Avte (35).
