Shiv Sena withdraws bandh call
The city unit of the Shiv Sena withdrew the bandh call given in the city on Thursday following the arrest of one more accused who was allegedly involved in a murderous attack on Shiv Sena MLA Vinayak Nimhan.

Except for areas in Pashan and Aundh, there was no effect of the bandh call. No untoward incident was reported in the city during the day, according to the information provided by the city police control.

Shiv Sena party workers had gathered at the Alka theatre chowk at around 11 a.m. to participate in a morcha to the police commissionerate to protest against the assault. However the morcha was cancelled and only a delegation submitted a memorandum to the city police commissioner urging him to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident.

Some party workers attempted to forcefully close down shops on Laxmi Road but were prevented by the police. Additional police force was deployed to maintain law and order in most parts of the city.

Meanwhile the police arrested one more accused Pramod Namdeo Nimhan 26, a resident of Pashan. Eight persons have been arrested so far in the case.

PCMC rejects PMC request for Rs 10 crore loan
The general body meeting of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation PCMC on Thursday rejected a proposal of the Pune Municipal Corporation PMC seeking a loan of Rs 10 crore for its developmental works.

The PCMC had in the past rejected the proposal on several occasions but it surfaced once again following a request made by the State government to reconsider the proposal. The PMC had agreed to repay the loan in a period of five years with interest as fixed by any nationalised bank.

The meeting, which was presided over by Mayor Madhukar Pawle, also rejected a proposal to transfer 275 employees of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport to the PCMC. The employees are working in the workshop which is overstaffed. The corporators rejected the proposal saying that the PCMT would require the technical workers when PCMT acquires new buses.

Constable8217;s wife commits suicide
A police constable8217;s wife in Khadki allegedly committed suicide last Monday following harassment by her husband and in-laws.

The Khadki police have registered an offence against the constable, Balasaheb Vishwanath Khude, his parents and sisters. Khude8217;s wife Lalita, allegedly set herself ablaze on Monday. Lalita8217;s father has lodged a complaint with the Khadki police.

Khude, who works in Mumbai, married Lalita in May this year. Suspecting her character, Khude and her parents allegedly harassed Lalita.
