PMC defers decision on tax recovery
The standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) today deferred the decision on the civic administration’s proposal mooting recovery of general tax from property holders at the 38 fringe villages by seeking the opinions of the party leaders in the PMC.

The standing committee, chaired by Ramesh Bodke, sought the Municipal Commissioner’s recommendation before giving the go-ahead to the proposal granting paternity leave to its male employees and extending the maternity leave.

The civic administration had proposed that general tax will be recovered for the current year at the rate of 20 per cent spread over the next five years for the convenience of the people. The PMC has already set up teams to assess the rateable value of all properties in the 38 villages. The committee however deferred taking a decision by seeking the opinions of the party leaders.
