PMC clears garbage
The Pune Municipal Corporation PMC today swung into action and cleared the heaps of garbage that had accumulated at Simhagad Road and other areas of the city. The administration has also decided to fine sweepers and supervisors Rs 5 if they failed to wear their official badges while on duty.

Following a report by this paper on September 17 on the overflowing garbage that had not been cleared for nearly two days from the containers at Simhagad Road, Nagnathpar, Shivaji Gymnasium at Sadashiv Peth, opposite the Dnyan Prabodhini, Munjabacha Bol and at Hatti Ganapati, the PMC immediately directed its sanitation officers to supervise the clearance of the accumulated filth.

Additional Municipal Commissioner, Deepak Kapoor, also the chairman of the apex sanitation committee visited the attendance offices at ward numbers 91, 43 and 42 at 6 a.m. to find out whether the sweepers and other staff arrived on time or simply signed the attendance muster.
