CHANDIGARH, Nov 30: It would be a tough outing for the Punjab University men's team in the forthcoming North Zone Inter-University handball championship which would be held at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra from December 9 to 16.The probables are undergoing a coaching camp at the PU Campus since November 16 and the final 12-member team would be selected on December 7.The PU team, which got knocked out in the initial stages of the last edition of the North-Zone meet held at Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) are, however, confident of entering into the last four stage, this year. All the four semifinalists (four teams) from each zone qualify for the All-India meet. The team coach, Onkar Singh, exuded confidence but was worried over strong opposition from others. ``Though we have done enough spade work. It would all depend on how the boys perform on a particular day,'' said the coach. The PU team will have to beat Jamia Milia (Delhi) and Bilaspur universities to enter the quarterfinals. However, their arch rival Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, whom they face in the quarterfinals (if they win the first two matches), would be the biggest hurdle. ``GND varsity is a good team. We have to plan our strategy to score a victory over them in order to make it to the semifinal,'' said Onkar. Most of the campers have an experience of big-match scenario and there is bound to be a struggle among them for a place in the final tweleve.
