VADODARA, Nov 30: Chief Judicial Magistrate A G Vasa has directed the Detection of Crime Branch DCB to probe the alleged misappropriation of raw materials supplied to Surat-based Baroda Rayon Corporation Limited by the Gujarat State Fertilisers Corporation Limited GSFC. The concerned raw materials were supplied between January and July this year.

In its petition submitted to the court, GSFC8217;s marketing manager N V Suthar has accused Baroda Rayon Chairman and Managing Director of Baroda Rayon S P Gaekwad, Joint Chief Executive P S Gaekwad, General Manager Purchase D Dasgupta and Marketing Manager.

According to the petition, the contract signed on January 15 between the two firms ruled that GSFC had to supply 700 to 800 metric tonnes of caprolactam to Baroda Rayons, while the latter had to convert it into nylon-6 and then re-supply it to GSFC within 60 days. The petition stated that the GSFC supplied 114.6 metric tonnes of caprolactam for its conversion into nylon-6 after the agreement was signed. However, Baroda Rayons did not deliver the material back to GSFC after converting it into nylon-6, the petition alleged, and added that the converted material was used by the accused company.

GSFC then initiated criminal proceedings under Sections 420, 406, 418, 409, 114 and 120B of IPC against Baroda Rayons and filed a petition in court against the authorities of Baroda Rayons. According to the petition, the total value of material supplied to Baroda Rayon, which was not returned to it, amounted to Rs 90 lakh.
