Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his wife Sadhna Singh, who are battling corruption charges since their admission that dumpers purchased in her name were rented out to a leading industrial group, are in for more trouble. A special court has directed the Special Establishment Police SEP to investigate the matter and submit a report.
The SEP functions under the Lokayukta.
The court that issued the order deals with cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The SEP was told to register a case against the Chief Minister, his wife, Principal Secretary Mines, Director of J P Associate Sunny Guar and the Regional Transport Officer, Rewa. The court has sought the report by December 14, when the matter will be heard.
Earlier, the SEP had refused to take cognisance of a complaint filed by advocate Ramesh Sahoo in this regard on October 29, after which Sahoo had approached the special court. The complainant has accused Chouhan and Sadhna Singh of offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC.
Sahoo accuses the two of extending benefits to J P Associates in exchange for monetary favours. Four dumpers purchased in Sadhna Singh8217;s name, the complaint alleges, on a fictitious address in Rewa were rented to the company.
