The last few months have been extremely tough for my son,Yuvraj. After the highs of the World Cup,Yuvraj has found himself dealing with the toughest time of his life in these last six-seven months. During the World Cup,Yuvraj found himself constantly troubled by bouts of coughing and vomiting.

He ignored the problem, assuming it was due to stress and didnt want anything to distract him during the course of such an important tournament.

When the problem persisted after the World Cup,we decided to seek medical advice. Reports and scans then showed that Yuvraj was dealing with something really serious. A golf-ball size lump was found over his left lung and doctors advised us to go in for more detailed scans. The initial reports suggested that Yuvraj had, what in medical terms is called, abnormal tumor called lymphoma over his left lung. The danger was,we were told, that it could be malignant.

Everyone in the family was very disturbed, even while we knew we were under very good medical care. Doctors wanted to conduct some more tests to ensure that he got the right treatment.

With medication and therapy to start with,Yuvraj got better and was eager to resume his India duties. He could only play one Test match and had to come back due to a finger injury.

When he returned from England,Yuvraj continued with his treatment, showing immense courage, determination all through this period and keeping all our spirits up.

After a detailed scan and biopsy, further reports have indicated that the tumour is non-malignant and can be treated through proper medication and therapy. In medical terms,Yuvraj is now in a much better state and on his way to a full recovery.

This period of illness, tests and treatment was physically and emotionally a very hard time for Yuvraj and all of us. Now his focus is to regain his full fitness. He is already preparing himself to play the ODI series in Australia.

He knows the importance of being fully fit and that is why he has sought some more time from the BCCI and requested not to be considered for selection in the ODIs versus the West Indies.

He doesnt want to rush things,he wants to be hundred percent fit before resuming playing cricket for India. He has started working hard on both his fitness and his cricket.

All through this period, the BCCI have given their full support and guidance,BCCI president Mr. N Srinivasan has offered Yuvraj all the support and help. I want to express Yuvraj and the familys gratitude for their understanding and help in this matter. Yuvraj is also very touched by the love and encouragement he has received from his teammates, who also knew about his problem.

We are sure that very soon he will be back on the cricket field in India colours. All we need are the good wishes and support of all Indians.

Ill make sure a fitter and fierce Yuvraj goes to Aus
Chandigarh:
Yuvraj Singhs father and former India cricketer Yograj Singh has said hell help his son get back to full fitness before the ODI series in Australia. I am waiting for my son to come to me and train from where he began. I will make sure a fitter and fierce Yuvraj goes to Australia.

Yograj also felt that Yuvraj rushed his return to cricket a bit after he was initially diagnosed with a lung infection. Yuvraj is a fighter and he wont let any medical ailment get in his way. He has been listening to the doctors. I feel he could have waited for few more days before getting back to the cricket field. ENS
