Canada8217;s west coast city of Vancouver has been named the city with the world8217;s best reputation, beating Vienna and Sydney in a close competition for the top spot, according to a latest ranking released earlier this week.

Reputation Institute,a reputation consulting firm with a presence in over 30 countries, conducted the yearly study that ranks the world8217;s 100 most reputable cities by polling over 18,000 people from the Group of Eight countries.

The cities8217; scores are decided by three dimensions that influence the perceptions of a destination, which are advanced economy, appealing environment and effective administration, according to the firm.

In the study, the three dimensions are further defined by 13 reputation attributes that participants are asked to evaluate, which include the destinations8221; perceived beauty, safety, cultural offerings, infrastructure, business environment, schools and more.

The firm says that Vancouver and Sydney are the only cities to finish in the top 10 in all three dimensions, with Vancouver scoring highest in administration and being recommended by poll participants as also the best place to live and work.

It adds that as the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics,Vancouver focuses many resources on creating a welcoming environment and promoting its multicultural heritage.
