US Cyber Command logo contains coded message

The comments page on Wired attracted hundreds of submissions on the meaning of the string of numbers and letters including tongue-in-check suggestions.

Many said it was US Cyber Command8217;s paragraph-long mission statement encrypted in MD5 hash code and Wired confirmed yesterday that was indeed the case,saying a reader needed just over three hours to figure it out.

US Cyber Command is responsible for the protection of military computer networks and is commanded by General Keith Alexander,who also heads the National Security Agency,the

super secret US surveillance agency.

In plain English,US Cyber Command8217;s full mission statement reads: 8220;USCYBERCOM plans,coordinates,integrates,synchronises and conducts activities to: direct the operations and defence of specified Department of Defence information networks and; prepare to,and when directed,conduct full spectrum military cyberspace operations in order to enable actions in all domains,ensure US/Allied freedom of action in cyberspace and deny the same to our adversaries.8221;
