India A bowlers found it tough to contain the West Indies A batsmen as the Caribbeans rode on skipper Devon Smiths resolute hundred to force a draw in the four-day match in Surrey. In response to Indias mammoth first innings score of 543 for eight,West Indies packed off for 563,taking a 20-run lead.

Dhoni reclaims top spot
MS Dhoni regained the number one spot in batting while India returned to the second spot in the ICC ODI Championships after back-to-back victories in the ongoing Asia Cup. Dhoni scored 38 not out against Bangladesh and 56 against Pakistan,helping him jump two places.
Kallis is the best,says Smith
South African skipper Graeme Smith feels his teammate Jacques Kallis is the most valuable player in the history of Test cricket. In my opinion Jacques Kallis is the most valuable player in the history of cricket, Smith wrote on his Twitter page. Of all the players with more than 11,000 runs,he is the only one with more than 250 wickets, he said.
Kochi keen on Waugh as coach
Former Australian captain Steve Waugh is among those being considered to coach the Kochi team which will make its IPL debut next year,franchise co-owner Vivek Venugopal has said. We have been in discussion with a lot of really good coaches and Steve Waugh is one of them. The discussions are on and will take some time before we finalise the name, Venugopal said.
Ktaka,Uttarakhand in semis
Uttarakhand held last years champions Karnataka to a spirited 1-1 draw as both the teams advanced to the semi-finals in the National junior football championship for Dr B C Roy Trophy at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan. In another quarterfinal league Group A match,Meghalaya registered a 1-0 win over Goa in a meaningless tie. From Group B,Chandigarh have already made it to the last four.
India,Canada split points
The series already won,Indias womens hockey team played out a 2-2 draw against Canada in the final match of the four-Test series at Vancouver. India started on an attacking note and earned a penalty corner in the 11th minute,which was converted by skipper Surinder Kaur. Canada restored parity two minutes later through another penalty corner by Diane Roemer. India again took lead in the 24th minute when Saba Anjum slammed in but Roemer levelled in the 50th.
Somdev rises to 103
Somdev Devvarman rose a rung to career best 103 in the latest ATP rankings,though he failed to make it to the main draw of the Wimbledon in singles. Leander Paes 6 and Mahesh Bhupathi 7 remained static. Sania Mirza also rose two spots to 111 in singles but dropped to 92 in doubles.
Shyam Sundar maintains lead
IM M Shyam Sundar retained his overnight lead after splitting points with Mehar Chinna Reddy in the seventh round of the Asian Junior Chess championship. Sundar has six points,followed by IM Vidit Santosh Gujrathi,FM S Nitin,Reddy and Swayams Mishra,all on 5.5 points.
