Shooters open with five medals

Indian shooters won two gold,one silver and two bronze medals on the opening day of the shooting event at the South Asian Games on Tuesday.

Indian shooters won two gold,one silver and two bronze medals on the opening day of the shooting event at the South Asian Games on Tuesday. The gold-winning performances came in the mens section,with Vivek Singh clinching top honours in the individual 25m standard pistol and then combining with Chandrasekhar Kumar Chaudhary and Harpreet Singh in the 25m standard pistol team event. In the individual section,Vivek outskilled Pakistans Mustkim Shah,while Chaudhary bagged the bronze.

In the womens section,13-year-old Mampi Das overcame a bout of fever to bag the bronze medal in the 10m air rifle,shooting 496.6 out of 500. Rajendra Bishnoi won a silver in the mens 170km road race mass start after being pipped to the post by Sri Lankas Janaka Hemanth Gonagalage.
