The substance hit Murdoch’s jacket. He was tackled by a group of people including Murdoch’s wife Wendi Deng who lunged to defend her husband and appeared to slap May-Bowles on the head. The commotion forced a 15-minute suspension of the session.

After pleading guilty to the offences on July 29,the part-time comic said,“I would just like to say this has been the most humble day of my life”,mimicking Murdoch’s statement to the MPs.
