Just days after he got into a major controversy over a racist remark against one of his army colleagues,Prince Harry has suffered yet another setback in 2009 by failing in his first flying test.
The 24-year-old third-in-line to the British throne has flunked the theory-based flying test at a Royal Air Force base in Lincolnshire only few weeks into his two-year course, the 8216;News of the World8217; reported.
8220;Harry didn8217;t reach the grade but he will have plenty of other opportunities to pass it. He will now be given extra tuition. It wasn8217;t a case of Harry failing and being booted off the course. It8217;s part of an on-going assessment,8221; a Royal source was quoted by the British tabloid as saying.
Prince Harry,an Army Lieutenant in the Household Cavalry8217;s Blues and Royals,is currently on an attachment to the Army Air Corps for his flying training.
In January,Harry had apologised for calling one of this army colleagues a 8220;Paki8221;,a derogatory term for Indians and Pakistanis. He had made the remark in 2006 at an airport departure lounge as soldiers waited to travel to Cyprus for training exercises.
8220;Harry was making a film of his army mates using a camcorder. He was talking over it 8212; moving the shots to different individuals.
8220;But when he passed over an Asian- looking soldier,he stopped and zoomed in. Then he said,8217;And here is our Paki friend8217; 8212; before moving on to someone else,8221; a senior Royal source had said.
And,last week Army chiefs had ordered him to go on a diversity training course over the 8220;Paki8221; jibe.
