Pak wants to find solution to all issues with India

Foreign Minister Qureshi seeks US help again to resolve problems between the neighbours,including J-K.

Pakistan on Tuesday said it is ready to engage with India to find an 8220;amicable8221; solution to outstanding issues,including Jammu and Kashmir,and asked the US 8220;to do everything in its power8221; to resolve this dispute.

8220;Pakistan is willing to engage India in a comprehensive dialogue to normalise relations between the two countries by finding amicable solutions to all outstanding issues including the core dispute of Jammu and Kashmir,8221; Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said during a lecture at the Harvard Kennedy School.

He said the countries have to 8220;realistically understand8221; that improved relations between the two nuclear armed powers of South Asia 8212; Pakistan and India 8212; 8220;is the missing key to regional peace8221;.

8220;We urge the US,a friend of both India and Pakistan,to do everything in its power to resolve this conflict and remove one more source of Muslim discontent and anger,taking oxygen out of the terrorist8217;s fire,8221; he told a gathering of over 700 students and professors at the School here.

He said 8220;unfortunately8221; India and Pakistan have some 8220;outstanding issues8221; and the 8220;US has to realise8221; that those issues have to be addressed.

8220;We can8217;t wish them outstanding issues away. They keep haunting us. We have to address them,the sooner we address them,the better it is for the entire region.8221;

He said while there is large constituency for peace on both sides of the border,there is also a 8220;vociferous minority8230; jingoistic voices8221; on both sides.

He,however,added that new generations are 8220;taking control8221; on both sides,who have 8220;not seen the pains of the partition8221; but realise what the 8220;dividends8221; of peace would be.

8220;Pakistan views the prevailing situation in Kashmir with great concern,8221; he said,adding that 8220;men and women of goodwill8221; in both India and Pakistan know that 8220;this issue must be addressed once for all if the Kashmir time bomb was to be diffused.8221;

Qureshi said terrorism is a 8220;common enemy8221; for India and Pakistan and the two countries need to 8220;collectively8221; fight the menace.

He said that if India and Pakistan 8220;turn away8221; from each other,terrorists and extremists will be the 8220;net beneficiaries8221;.

He said the two countries can tackle extremism and terrorism if both sides realise that 8220;this is the common enemy and we need a common approach to defeat this menace8230; If we turn away,if we disengage,they will be the net beneficiaries.8221;
