Mr Darcy rises from a lake
Who would not have swooned at the sight of a manfully tousled Colin Firth striding around in his wet shirt in the 1995 BBC series Pride and Prejudice? The scene,in which Firth plays Mr Darcy, remains perhaps the only time a man dressed in a puffy white blouse has ever looked truly hot on screen. Last week,Mr. Darcy emerged from the water yet again, this time in the form of a 12-foot-tall statue plunked in the middle of Serpentine lake in Londons Hyde Park. It had been placed there as a publicity move by UKTV,which plans to rebroadcast Pride and Prejudice. Toby Crowther, the lead sculptor, said,People were really positive about itabout 99 per cent of the people knew it was Darcy, he said. Although one person thought it was Elvis.
Captain of my own yacht
There are plenty of good reasons not to buy a yacht even if you are super-rich. They are expensive to keep and people do not use them as much as they think they will. So now, wealthy enthusiasts are willing to hand over millions to own part of a luxury yacht without the headaches. There are many companies whose business is based on people paying thousands of dollars a year for a timeshare in a boat. Philip Burroughs, director of Sanlorenzo Shares,a fractional-ownership company associated with Italian yacht maker Sanlorenzo, said that in 2002,when he was at a different company,he sold shares in a 62-foot yacht. To our surprise, every single owner on that first boat could have bought the whole boat. These people were just smart business people. They didnt want to pay to have the boat sitting there and pay the crew.
