Late on Day 2,Nathan Lyon bowled five impressive overs of off-spin,posing a few demanding queries, especially to Tendulkar. He focused on flight, getting it to dip nicely, hardly erring in line or length a contrast to the erratic assortment that R Ashwin dished out earlier.
The Indian offie, who was impressive on Day One,hardly got his bearings right on Wednesday. His figures for the day read a disappointing 27-2-113-1,failing to quell even tail-ender Ryan Harris. Rather than settle on a line and length around off-stump on the flat wicket,Ashwin kept trying his variations, with poor results. He kept drifting towards the pads of Clarke and Ponting, who made the most of it. In fact,Ashwins stock delivery of the day was the drifter instead of the orthodox off-break,and he rarely got his line right with it. His carom balls often pitched too short and were easy offerings for the Australian duo.
