US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has revealed that she was taken aback when President Barack Obama offered her the post of his chief diplomat.
I didn’t expect to end up working for the man who defeated me in last year’s Democratic primaries, the Washington Times quoted,Clinton,as saying.
Addressing a gathering of civil society leaders in Jakarta, she said: In elections, there are winners and losers, and the losers should acknowledge their defeat and either move on,or try to bring about change by other peaceful means.
Earlier,Clinton received a warm welcome at Jakarta International Airport, where 44 children from an elementary school that Obama attended in the late 1960s,sang a folk song while waving American and Indonesian flags. Hundreds of people lined up at both sides of her motorcade route to greet her.
