Focussing only on Sachin risky: Swann

England off-spinner Graeme Swann feels it would be too risky to focus only on Sachin Tendulkar as India have other key batsmen in their side.

England off-spinner Graeme Swann feels it would be too risky to focus only on Sachin Tendulkar as India have other key batsmen in their side.

Its very risky to focus on Sachin alone. He is the best of the modern generation and the record speaks for itself. But just focusing on him can create the risk of someone sneaking from the back door and take the game away from us, Swann said. Swann, however, praised Tendulkar, chasing his 100th international hundred at Lords,a venue he has not enjoyed in the past.

I saw him get a hundred on TV that was how long ago! Hes a phenomenal talent to still be going now and on the verge of a 100th hundred in international games. Hopefully hell have to wait six or seven months for that because we dont want him getting one in England.

Swann, who has taken 140 wickets from 32 Tests with 10 five-wicket hauls at an average of 27.72,revealed that the English team has done a thorough analysis of Indias top batsmen and would be well prepared for the Test series, starting July 21. We have an army of support staff who compile all data on batsmen, where to bowl, how to bowl. I hope our plan A and plan B works and we dont have to resort to plan C or D.

Stating that India would be missing opener Virender Sehwag at the top of the order in the first two Tests,Swann said,Whenever a team loses a player of his quality, its a huge loss. You start to rely on guys who are that good. Sehwag has been phenomenal, its like if we miss on Jonathan Trott, its a huge hole to fill.

Tremlett ready for challenge

Chris Tremlett regards the Indian batting line-up as the biggest challenge in world cricket but said his side can do well. You have to say they are the biggest challenge in world cricket. They generally get runs on the board. But we know if do the right things,we can bowl them out, said Tremlett.

Describing Indian batsmen as attritional players who wear the opposition down,Tremlett said,They have great players; they play attritional, very patient cricket. You need to be very patient yourself to bowl them out.

Tremlett made Indian batsmen hop around in Trent Bridge four years ago but feels he is a far better bowler now. I am now consistently quicker. I was raw then and still learning but now I feel more confident, he said. The teams from the sub-continent are usually more susceptible to short-pitched stuff. But you need pitches and conditions to help.
