FIFA says it is looking at Ireland8217;s request for a replay against France in their disputed World Cup playoff.
Irish officials asked football8217;s world governing body on Thursday for another chance because of Thierry Henry8217;s blatant handball in the approach to France8217;s decisive goal.
FIFA says it has received a formal request from the Football Association of Ireland.
FIFA organizes the World Cup and must sanction any replayed match.
There is no precedent to order a match replayed because of second-guessing a referee8217;s judgment on the field of play.
Henry controlled the ball with his hand before passing to William Gallas who scored in extra-time in Paris Wednesday. The match ended 1-1 and France advanced 2-1 on aggregate.
