Dhawan set to misss final Test against Australia

Dhawan didn't take to the field today and also could not open in India's second innings.

Indian cricket8217;s latest sensation,Shikhar Dhawan,is set to miss the fourth and final Test against Australia,starting in his hometown Delhi from March 22,due to a hand injury.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that Dhawan 8220;may not8221; play in the final Test due to the injury he sustained on his left hand while fielding on the fourth day yesterday.

8220;Shikhar may not play in the final Test. You will soon get to know the official confirmation,8221; Dhoni told reporters at the post-match press conference here.

Dhawan bludgeoned his way into the record books with an unbeaten 168-ball 185,the fastest-ever Test century by a debutant,in India8217;s first innings,which paved the way for the hosts8217; six-wicket win over Australia and an unassailable 3-0 lead in series.

Dhawan reached the three-figure mark off a mere 85 balls,surpassing the previous record held by West Indian Dwayne Smith.

In the post-match presentation ceremony,Dhawan said,8221;I fell on my knuckles when I dived.8221;

Dhawan was last night seen outside the Fortis Hospital in Chandigarh with two bandages.

A precautionary x-ray was performed on the 27-year-old batsman that revealed no fracture,but sources claimed doctors had advised the swashbuckling opener not to bat in the second innings.
