Capello says he will pick Rooney for Euro 2012

Rooney had feared he would be exiled for his moment of madness in final Euro 2012 qualifier last month.

England football coach-cum-manager Fabio Capello has confirmed that he will pick star Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for the Euro 2012.

According to The Sun,Capello travelled to United8217;s Carrington headquarters on Thursday to assure Rooney that he is still part of his plans for next summer.

The Italian, however, did tell the 26-year-old that he would not be taking part in the upcoming friendlies against Spain and Sweden.

Rooney, who had feared he would be exiled for his moment of madness in the final Euro 2012 qualifier last month, said about the incident,It was stupid of me and I regretted it as soon as I did it. There was no tackle beforehand and I didn8217;t think 8216;I8217;m going to beat him8217; 8212; it just happened. It8217;s my own fault so I can8217;t complain.

It is no excuse, but I still feel the punishment is a bit harsh, he added.

Rooney also talked to Capello about an appeal against the length of his ban and Dzudovic has said he will speak up in the striker8217;s defence.
