12 Indians held in UK for working illegally

Twelve Indians,including a woman,have been arrested following a major raid to check immigrants working illegally in two companies in the east Midlands town of Leicester.

Twelve Indians,including a woman,have been arrested following a major raid to check immigrants working illegally in two companies in the east Midlands town of Leicester.

The two companies,Rewalk Clothing and Sanjiri Mouldings,could face fines of up to 120,000 pounds after the 12 illegal immigrants were caught by a team from the UK Border Agency during raids.

Nine foreign workers were found to be working at Rewalk Clothing,and three at Sanjiri Mouldings – all 12 were Indian nationals.

Following the arrests,officers searched 10 houses in the city to find identity documents to use as evidence to send all 12 back to India.

Since the raid,10 have been released on bail and the other two are being kept in custody,reports from Leicester said.

Phil Dyer,assistant director of the UK Border Agency,said: “We will not tolerate immigration abuse and will punish those who break the law. We expect foreign nationals to play by the rules or we will take swift action”.
