MUMBAI, June 17: The Amateur Powerlifting Association, Suburban Mumbai, recently held the Senior Power Lifting Championship at Keshav Gore Hall, Goregaon.

More than 70 lifters participated with 31 new district records created.The Association, in their promotion of the sport, will hold the Walguard Maharashtra Senior Powerlifting Championship men and women and the Walguard West Zone Powerlifting Championship men and women.

Sports coaching: THE Samvida Sports Foundation will launch a long-term sports coaching programme.

The programme will include badminton, table tennis, tennis, cricket, althletics and gymnastics.

National Insititue of Sports NIS coaches have been appointed by the Foundation which will assist students upto 50 percent of the expenditure.The total expenditure for each student is estimated at Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 including school fees, boarding and coaching per year.
