JAIPUR, April 16: With the last few days marked by open squabbling among Bharatiya Janata Party BJP leaders, hectic efforts are now on to mend things in the state unit.

While the top leadership of the state BJP remained busy with meetings and parleys, some of the MLAs who had demanded incentives to partymen by way of appointments to boards and corporations met Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat this morning. However, details of the meeting could not be obtained as the leaders remained incommunicado.

Senior Rashtriyaswayam Sevak Sangh RSS leader in charge of Rajasthan affairs, Sohan Singh, who is a member of the Sangh8217;s All India Pratinidhi Sabha is also in town, presumably on a mission to sort things out in the party. Concerned at the trend of more state BJP leaders joining every day in finding faults with their Government and leadership, efforts in the party now seem to be directed towards controlling the damage from the resultant row.

Till now, the post poll exercise of introspection in theparty has followed the familiar pattern 8212; one group of partymen raising old issues and the rival formation headed by Shekhawat rebutting them, leading to exchange of charges and voicing of discontent and ultimately ending with leaders stressing the need to maintain discipline for the sake of the party.

However, in the present round, partymen have openly voiced their differences for the first time. The rumblings had become apparent earlier on when the state-level exercise was on to find out what went wrong in the elections.
