The retro chic polka dots are back in fashion, more than a decade after Julia Roberts wore a dotted dress in Pretty Woman. Now, the look seems to be a favourite with the likes of Penelope Cruz, Sushmita Sen, Sarah Jessica Parker and Katrina Kaif. “Big dots in colours like fuchsia and orange can make you look funky while dresses with small dots in colours like black or brown make a classy statement,” says designer Gauri Karan.

However, make sure not to overdo the look. “Don’t wear a polka-dotted dress with a polka-dotted scarf and shoes,” says Karan. You can also play around with accessories like polka-dotted headbands, shirts, dresses, scarves and shoes.
