2 kids, three youths found murdered
Two children and three youths were found murdered in the past 24 hours in separate incidents. The body of an unidentified girl, around seven years of age, was found near the Okhla railway tracks. She had been strangled with a green salwar. She was wearing pink and silver bangles. The body of an unidentified boy, around 12 year of age, was fished out of the Haiderpur canal on Sunday. The boy8217;s hands and legs had been tied with rope. The Delhi Cantt police recovered the body of a 17-year-old boy from a construction site at Panchwati.

The body bore multiple injuries on the chest. The body of a 25-year-old youth, Om Prakash, was found in a garbage dump in Paschim Vihar on Sunday morning. There were multiple stab wounds on his body. Prakash was apparently a drug addict.

A 22-year-old youth was murdered by three residents of Sawan Park after a drunken brawl.

Man fights off attempt on life
Three years after his brother was murdered, Kartar Singh, 49, fought off an attempt on his life when he was out for his morning walk on Monday in Sarita Vihar. Kartar Singh, who runs a dairy in the area, was with his son and a nephew when two men Diwakar and Sant Singh came on a motorcycle and pointed a gun at him. They were about to fire when Kartar pulled out his revolver and fired several shots in the air. This threw the assailants and Kartar even managed to catch Diwakar.

His brother, Brahma Singh, was also out for his morning walk near Okhla canal when he who was murdered in August three years ago. The murder remains unsolved and Kartar fearing a similar attack had obtained a revolver.

Kartar told the police that he was being watched since the past couple of days. He said that Ved Pal and Narinder, who were apparently jealous of his success, were associated with the murder. According to the police, Ved Pal has a bad reputation in the area.

Youth held for mugging
The son of a Delhi Police sub-inspector was arrested when he and two of his accomplices attempted to rob a businessman. A sub-inspector passing through that area arrested the youth and seized the stolen cash from him. According to the police, Ashok Kumar Gupta, an agent of Hindustan Lever, had collected money from his customers around 1 p.m. and was going back to his shop. Three persons stopped him near Banwari Lal Sweets on Ambedkar Road and snatched his cash bag.

Ashok yelled for help and nearby shopkeepers rushed to nab the culprits. The passersby and SI Rajiv Yadav caught one of them and took back the money bag. The accused told the police his name was Yogesh and his father Roopchand was a Sub-Inspector posted at Daryaganj.
