Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to transfer a district collector for not recognising his voice on the phone gave Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav the opportunity to take a jibe at his predecessor in the corridors of Parliament last week. Little did he realise that in doing so, he was letting out information that didn’t show him up in good light either. “Hum jab CM the toh Chief Secretary se hum khaini chunwate the (When I was the CM, I made the chief secretary prepare tobacco),” he bragged. Unmindful that he was exposing his own dictatorial whims, he added that if anyone acted too smart, he would be dismissed forthwith. “Aur yahan, Nitish Kumar ko DM poochhta hai ki kaun CM!”
