CHANDIGARH, Sept 19: A poetic tribute to Kargil heroes was paid by the International Punjabi Society at Tagore Theatre, here on Sunday night. An all-India mushaira was organised with poets from all over the county participating in the event.

While some poets talked about the valour and devotion of Indian Army men, others touched an emotional chord with the portrayal of loved one8217;s left behind.

Ved Deewana recited:
Ham ko kaise tela ne bulandhi nahi bakshee,
Zakhmee haan par apne paron pe khade hain.

Along with the tributes to the soldiers was Dr Sardar Anjum8217;s comment on Vajpayee8217;s visit to Lahore. Other participants included Dr Basheer Badr, Bekal Utsahi, Zubair Rizvi, Gulrez Rampuri, Jahanaara Waka, Mauj Rampuri, Waseem Barelvi, Sardar Panchhi and Tajinder Ada. Lt Gen B.K.N. Chhibber was the chief guest on the occasion.
