PUNE, Oct 11: The proposed 30 per cent hike in the fares of the Pune Municipal Transport will come into effect from Monday midnight. Municipal Commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad on Monday granted permission to the proposed hike in the fare in view of the urgency of the matter.Gaikwad today approved a proposal by PMT committee under section 67 (3) of Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation Act. Earlier, Gaikwad had discussed the issue with PMT general manager Subhash Lolge. A press statement issued by PMT committee chairman Prakash Lodha said the decision was taken urgently since PMT's daily loss had been increased by Rs five lakh following increase in the diesel price.
