
The three-member group set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to go into the rehabilitation of families affected by the Sardar Sarovar project held its first meeting today.
The group, headed by former Comptroller and Auditor General V K Shunglu, held discussions with officials for two days to devise a programme to fulfill its terms of reference, it said. The group, which has been asked to submit its report within three months, will meet again on May 9.
It studied the data that had been provided by the state government on the status of R038;R. The group would do physical verifications of the claims made by the state by doing physical verifications on some samples. Former vice-chancellor of JNU, G K Chaddha, and Jai Prakash Narayan, convener of Loksatta, are the other members of the group.
