Opposing acquisition of farm land for setting up a thermal power plant near here, PMK founder S Ramadoss on Sunday warned that he would lead an agitation against the state Government if it went ahead with the proposed project.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had already stated that his government would not acquire agricultural land for setting up industries, he said after listening to farmers’ grievances on the issue. Stating that the farmers were not prepared to sell their farm land even if offered crores of rupees, he said: “I hope the Chief Minister will honour the adage that people’s verdict is God’s verdict. If not, I will lead an agitation against the Government.”
