Plea for early cane crushing

PHAGWARA, Nov 8: Demanding early starting of crushing, the sugarcane growers on Friday held a dharna and rally outside the Oswal Sugar Mills here. Phagwara Cane Growers Co-operative Society president Ajmer Singh and Phillaur Cane Growers Society president Varinder Singh Bhaini, who led the agitators, threatened quot;direct actionquot; if the farmers were not informed of the date of crushing by November 16.
